You will want to start off with the 30-day free trial prior to purchasing your machine, if possible. Such softwares include RDWorks and LaserGRBL which offer some functionality, however the design and feature options are more limited with what you can do.
I’m honestly not too familiar with the additional softwares out there as options are limited on Mac, but some quick research shows there are alternatives if you are running a Windows machine. It is a powerhouse and allows unlimited possibilities for creating complex design files that directly translate to G-code so your laser can engrave it! Not to mention, it is also one of the only laser cutter software that is Mac compatible. It allows not only design editing capabilities, but a very beginner-friendly interface that is easy to navigate. LightBurn is often considered the best laser engraving software of use for many brands of lasers, including OMTech. If you created it, kudos to you for your artistic skill and imagination.LightBurn is the CO2 laser engraver industry-standard software. Using right-click and save keeps all the bits and bytes where they belong. Once opened, nothing useful to the laser is preserved in the architecture of the file. This is because the browser is usually the default for displaying SVG files. It's important that the recipient save the files with a right click and save rather than opening the image and saving it. If the preview in LightBurn shows normal, it's still a mechanical problem with the laser. If the preview of your laser contact shows a distorted image, the problem may be the html/svg confusion.
The import was just fine with respect to alignment on the screen. That's a feature of LightBurn I've not used before and it was a pleasant surprise. It was a big deal on the positive side when importing it with LightBurn put the different colors on separate layers. I was surprised to see all the colors on one layer, but figured that was no big deal. I right clicked on your attachment, saved it and opened it in Inkscape.
